11661 Northwest Gainesville Rd. Phil Curtin - Plant Manager
Chemical grade limestone (calcium carbonate) in coarse (6 mesh to 20 mesh) and medium (20 mesh to 325 mesh) gradations. Most products are available in either bulk or bag (50 lb.) Shipment: Truck and Rail (Florida Northern and CSX) available. Production: Mining at Lowell is via open pit methods and includes both above- and below-water operations. The high calcium Ocala Limestone provides a very fossiliferous and quite soft source of raw materials for Franklin's Lowell plant. Franklin controls several hundred acres of limestone reserves with typical seams running 90-100 feet thick. The Lowell plant has two high capacity dryers and two roller mills, along with extensive crushing, screening and air classification capacity. Both concrete and steel silos are available, providing the plant with several thousand tons of bulk finished product storage. An enclosed warehouse is available for bag products. Trucks may be loaded directly from production. |
