This commitment embodies an aggressive health and safety program for our employees, a dedication to the utilization to current technology, environmental abatement and prevention procedures, and a philosophy of cooperation with the communities and agencies with which we interact.

Franklin's safety programs are designed to involve and empower our employees in a manner which promotes a team approach to safety. The success of this approach is seen in Franklin's consistent safety achievement as measured in a number of days operated at each plant without a lost time accident. This commitment to safety is further fortified by a proactive Wellness Program and ongoing employee training.

Technology plays an important role in Franklin's environmental program. Sophisticated computer systems are employed to maintain current data on all aspects of our operations including environmental control equipment and mining procedures. A staff of professional engineers is continuously at work in selecting, modifying, installing, and monitoring the performance of our environmental control and all other operating systems, and is specifically charged with the responsibility of maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations, securing and maintaining permits, and monitoring ongoing changes in the regulatory environment.

Franklin knows that environmental compliance goes beyond technology alone and our management and staff are committed to working cooperatively within our communities and with federal and state agencies to respond to questions and concerns as they arise. We believe that environmental success can only be achieved through cooperative effort.
